The Florida State Park Family Needs Your Help

Hurricane Michael slammed into the Panhandle on October 10 with unprecedented force causing catastrophic damage to the area. Many of our beautiful state parks in the region suffered massive damage, but disasters like this take their toll on more than just buildings and habitats.

Let us not forget the park staff, and other DEP employees and their families who were impacted by this storm. Many have experienced total loss--homes and possessions. They have been displaced and are sleeping in temporary accommodations. They have lost vehicles and untold other practical and precious possessions. Will you help us help them as they begin to rebuild their lives?

The Foundation is working in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Division of Recreation and Parks to provide financial support to help DEP staff and their families recover from this devastating hurricane. For property damage alone, millions of dollars will be needed to repair or rebuild homes and other buildings and replace damaged infrastructure.

We are committed to these families and are making $50,000 available toward helping those DEP staff, including park staff, who are in need. But so much more is needed, and we ask that you join us in our effort to support these families. Your gift, no matter the size, will help us with this critical and timely mission.

If you would like your donation to go to a specific park or DEP program area, please indicate the park’s name in the "COMMENTS" box.
