Access for All Campaign

Friends launch a $1 million campaign to increase accessibility at Florida’s State Parks.

It is important that every person who visits a Florida State Park have the most beneficial and enjoyable experience possible.  No one should unnecessarily be barred from this.

Over the years many innovative advances have been made that allow people with disabilities unprecedented access to the outdoors.  All-terrain power wheelchairs able to handle deep sand or rugged trails.  Accessible kayak launches.  Roll out matting that transforms sandy beach into a flat stable easily traversed path. And, much more.

The Florida Park Service is most willing to do all it takes to house, maintain, and make available these kinds of accommodations which would have a profound effect on the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and friends.  But, park budgets have no funds to make the initial purchases.

Friends of Florida State Parks is buckling down to raise a $1M for the Access For All Campaign and we hope you can and will add your effort to ours by making a contribution.  Click here to go to our donation page.  Be sure to specify “Access For All Campaign” in the drop down box.  You can even specify in the comment box exactly which purchase you would like to see it go towards.

Check back from time to time for updates on the “1M Wish List” pictures, and stories.  And thank you for your interest and generosity.

For Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Everyone loves to explore. Always wondering what's around the next bend in the trail.  How much fun it is to discover turkey tracks on a sandy trail or bobcat paw prints on a muddy one.  There are people who dream of being able to get out on unpaved trails but due to age, injury, or illness they can't.  An all-terrain power wheelchair turns can't into can. Please help us fund a wheelchair like the one pictured below.
